Useful tips for Roto-molded cooler and ice chest

Useful tips for Roto-molded cooler and ice chest

      1. PRECOOL COOLER

For best performance, always store your cooler in a cool environment for 24 hours prior to use. In rare situations, people have pre-chilled their coolers in a commercial freezer prior to use.

      2. MORE ICE IS BETTER

We recommend using at least twice the amount of ice as the contents. The more ice, the longer it will last. Remember, cold air travels down, so if you want your beverages well chilled, load cans and bottles first, then cover with ice.

      3. ICE TEMPERATURES VARY

Using well cured ice that is dry and colder than its freezing point will keep the cooler cold longer.

      4. KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT AND DIRECT SUNLIGHT

Do not store cooler in hot locations. If this is unavoidable, bring the cooler inside at least 24 hours before use. Do not place the cooler directly on a hot surface as this will melt the bottom of the cooler. For example, place a towel beneath the cooler if placing the cooler on a hot surface like the back of a pick-up truck, on the top of a car or on the floor of your boat. Keep cooler out of the sun when possible. Ice lasts up to twice as long when the cooler is in the shade. You can use tarps or towels to cover the cooler when in direct sunlight.

      5. CUBE ICE VS BLOCK ICE

Choose cube or block ice. Cube ice will chill the cooler and content more quickly, but melts at a faster rate. You can use both to chill contents quicker and achieve longer ice retention.

      6. DON’T DRAIN THE COLD WATER

Melted ice water preserves ice better than empty air space. Keep melted ice water in the cooler, making sure all food and meat are kept away from the water. If the cooler does need to be drained, replace the open-air space with towels or newspaper if you are unable to refill it with more ice.

      7. COVER AIR SPACE

Make sure to cover as much space as possible. Cover open space with ice, towels or newspaper.

      8. LIMIT OPENING THE COOLER

Close lid quickly after opening. Do not leave the lid open longer than necessary. Warm air from the outside will get in, causing ice to melt faster.

      9. PROTECT PERISHABLE FOODS

Pack food in sealed containers to help keep food dry. Place perishable foods like meat and dairy products directly on the ice.
